Temporary Employee Database

Short Term Assistance for Local Governments: New Names Needed

On a regular basis, the LGMA office is contacted by local governments who are seeking the services of individuals who are willing to take on short-term employment assignments. Typically, these assignments range from a few days to several months and are generally set up to cover off those periods when a particular local government is temporarily short on staff (e.g., pending the filling of a vacant position within the organization by a permanent employee).

In most cases, the individuals filling these temporary positions are those who have recently retired but are still interested in doing some work on a temporary or part-time basis.

The LGMA maintains a database of these individuals and regularly shares it with local governments needing temporary help. The database currently includes individuals with experience in all aspects of local government including senior administration, finance, planning, parks and recreation and engineering.

Recently, the demand for temporary services has started to grow with our database of names being requested frequently. There has been a particular interest in individuals with experience running local government elections.

If you, or someone you know in your organization is nearing retirement and would be interested in having their names included in our temporary assignment database for future assignments, please send your contact information to:
