LGMA Code of Ethics

The Board of Directors of the LGMA has approved a new Code of Ethics that took effect January 1, 2020 reflecting their direction that all members demonstrate the highest standards for ethical conduct and integrity in all public, professional, and personal relationships.  The LGMA Code of Ethics is mandatory and all members will be asked to acknowledge that they will abide by the Code of Ethics when they complete membership renewal for 2024.  Read the full Code of Ethics .

Whether precipitated from a change from your community’s council/board or other circumstances, the involuntary departure from your organization can come as a shock, and the immediate emotional aspects leave many individuals not knowing what to do or where to turn for advice and assistance. Executive Coaching: 


Members can choose from a database of qualified coaches who provide a one-hour introductory free session to determine fit and suitability. The LGMA then provides two hours of complimentary coaching following the introductory meeting. Any further coaching would be covered by the member or their organization at a special LGMA member rate.

Overseas Exchange Program:


In partnership with the New Zealand Society of Local Government Managers (Taituarā — Local Government Professionals AotearoaOLGM), the LGMA offers an Overseas Exchange Program and provides leadership and development opportunities specifically tailored to the local government environment. It provides an opportunity for local government managers to focus on their management skills, competencies, and knowledge as well as their career development in local government through a two-week exchange with a partner manager in New Zealand. Pension Consulting Service:


The LGMA, in partnership with pension consultant Jerry Woytack of Retire by Design, provides support for personal pension and retirement planning counselling services for its members. Current LGMA members who are at least 50 years old, have held membership for at least the past 5 years, and are members of the Municipal Pension Plan in BC are eligible to apply for a one hour free session.
