Chapter Membership for 2024

There are two membership renewals each year – this is your West Kootenay Boundary Chapter Renewal and it is different from the LGMA Provincial Membership. Your West Kootenay Boundary Chapter Membership provides access to a grassroots network and opportunities for training close to home where you can meet and connect with colleagues from local governments in your region. As a service to your local chapter, LGMA provides support in collecting fees and maintaining the membership database.

Rocky Mountain/West Kootenay Boundary Joint LGMA Chapter Conference

The RDCK conference planning team is very happy to let you know that registration is now open for the joint Rocky Mountain/West Kootenay Boundary Local Government Management Association Conference, being held April 24 – 26, 2024 at Prestige Lakeside Resort in Nelson, hosted by the Regional District of Central Kootenay. Please see the attachment for hotel information & our ‘schedule-at-a-glance’.

You are invited to join your colleagues from throughout our region to participate in valuable learning opportunities and to network with each other. We have put together a great conference program that balances new learning with updates on key items, and that leaves plenty of room for fun and connection. We are very happy to announce Nelson local Lucas Myers as our keynote speaker this year. Known across the Kootenays for his theatrical talent, Lucas creates work that is thought provoking, relatable and undeniably funny.

Register today!

For more information on the optional events being offered, please see below:

  • Urban Systems is hosting an optional workshop on Wednesday April 24 from 2pm – 4pm. The workshop is a Deeper Dive on DAAPR-i (i.e. Development Applications & Approvals Processes Reviews and improvements). The current housing shortage and recent amendments to legislation require us to rethink our approach to staff delegation, processing applications and financing growth related infrastructure. The intent of this deeper dive into development application process improvements is intended for those that are looking to: improve and streamline processes, ensure procedural consistency despite staff turnover, strengthen corporate records management, build trusting industry relationships and improve customer service. Urban Systems has worked extensively with the District of Invermere and across BC with small towns, resort communities, and larger urban centres on a variety of development application process improvements and would like to share our lessons learned.

  • The welcome reception is being held at Nelson’s Museum, Archives and Gallery. We will be offering an optional tour before the reception of the Museum and the Cold War bunker. For more information please see the Nelson Museum website.
