November 29 and 30, 2017 - Campbell River Maritime Heritage Centre, Campbell River, BC

A new pilot workshop is being offered to administrators and land use managers in both local governments and First Nations communities in Northern Vancouver Island on November 29 and 30, 2017, in Campbell River, BC. This workshop aims to enhance working relationships and build trust and collaboration between staff in local governments and First Nations.

The LGMA created a working group in 2016 that includes local government and First Nations advisors to help develop the curriculum for the workshop. The central focus of this pilot workshop is to:

  • Exchange information about existing legislative and land use frameworks
  • Engage in a facilitated dialogue about some tools and practices that can increase mutual understanding between local governments and First Nations administrators around opportunities to enhance land use planning
  • Where applicable, explore existing or future opportunities for working together using case studies

View the workshop brochure. Register online before November 22, 2017.

Please note: This pilot is open to participants from Northern Vancouver Island only; the LGMA intends to offer this pilot in other regions of BC in the future that will be open to attendees from those regions.
