Policy 012: Convention Prize Qualification

POLICY STATEMENT:

It is the policy of the LGMA to eliminate the potential of conflict of interest perception in the award of prizes to convention delegates.

POLICY BACKGROUND:

LGMA Convention exhibitors have, in recent years, offered prizes of significant value to convention delegates visiting exhibits. Prizes are usually awarded by means of draws to delegates present at the time of the draw. The system which has evolved is open to accusations of conflict of interest as the primary qualification, being registration at the conference, is in most cases paid by the employer.

POLICY GOAL:

It is the goal of this policy to ensure that delegates may qualify for prize draws on the basis of personal financial participation in the draw.

POLICY OBJECTIVES:

  1. To offer draw prize tickets for sale during the convention.
  2. To advise exhibitors that prize draws will not be permitted for items valued individually in excess of fifty dollars ($50.) unless such draws are made from tickets sold by the LGMA at the registration desk.
  3. To produce prize draw tickets and provide information regarding draw conditions, time(s) and location(s).
