Policy 011: Registration Refund
POLICY STATEMENT:
It is the policy of the LGMA to authorize refund of convention registration fees after the posted cancellation deadline under exceptional circumstances only and without prejudice.
POLICY BACKGROUND:
LGMA convention registrations include a cancellation clause, which allows for a full or partial refund of registration fees. The Executive has on a number of occasions received requests for the refund of registration fees for late cancellations.
POLICY GOAL:
It is the goal of this policy to limit the refund of registration fees in the event of a late cancellation due to personal hardship cases.
POLICY OBJECTIVES:
- To accept without penalty a late substitute registration in the event of a late cancellation.
- To refund registration fees less coast incurred on behalf of the registrant on cancellations which are received past the posted cancellation deadline but prior to the event date in circumstances where
(a) The reason for the cancellation is any of the following:
- termination of employment of the registrant,
- serious illness of the registrant or immediate family member requiring hospitalization.
- tragic event of a personal nature in the immediate family of the registrant.
- unforeseen, unavoidable critical work commitment (such as strikes and emergencies, e.g. floods, fire, etc.)
