Policy 002: Representation at UBCM Conferences
POLICY STATEMENT:
It is the policy of the LGMA to maintain an LGMA presence at the annual UBCM Convention.
POLICY BACKGROUND:
In 1986 the Board of Directors authorized a staff person to attend UBCM Conference. The practice was maintained until 1992 when the benefit of this practice was questioned. In 1993 LGMA representation at UBCM was again authorized. It was decided that the LGMA President bring greetings from the LGMA to UBCM Convention delegates and that the LGMA's standing display be maintained in the exhibit/trade show section of the UBCM Convention.
POLICY GOAL:
It is the goal of this policy to emphasize the importance of a team approach to local government administration and to increase awareness of the LGMA among members of the Union of B. C. Municipalities.
POLICY OBJECTIVES:
- To ask UBCM Convention planners to include the LGMA President in the ceremonies of their Convention.
- To have a personal or visible display presence at each UBCM Convention.
- To emphasize a team approach to local government administration by displaying projects undertaken jointly by the LGMA and UBCM.
