Policy 001: Funding from Outside Sources for Programs & Services
POLICY STATEMENT:
It is the policy of the LGMA to encourage funding of programs and services from sources outside of the Association or from the Provincial Government or its agencies providing that any submissions for such funding are reviewed for conflict of interest and inappropriate endorsement potential.
POLICY BACKGROUND:
There are occasions when issues such as land use planning, land development contracting/tendering, are suggested as topics for educational programs or when specific services to the membership are being considered. These issues may also have potential for being funded through groups which do business with local government and whose members may be seen to be soliciting endorsement for their business or product through the LGMA by funding the educational program.
Such contract and funding can be mutually beneficial and should be encouraged. The merits of each situation should be examined prior to the funding being accepted.
POLICY GOAL:
It is the goal of this policy to expand the funding base for educational programs without exposing the LGMA to inappropriate endorsement or conflicts of interest.
POLICY OBJECTIVES:
- To encourage private sector funding for LGMA educational programs and services.
