Corien Speaker

Corien Speaker is a long-time Kootenay resident originally from the Creston Valley. In 1988 she relocated to Kimberley with her young family. She began her career in local government in 1991 with the City of Cranbrook. In 1998 she took a position with the City of Prince Rupert, and after six years in the rainy City she returned to the sunny Kootenays as the Chief Administrative Officer for the District of Elkford.

Corien is a Certified General Accountant with a diploma in Local Government Management from the University of Victoria. She recently enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (Leadership) program at Thompson Rivers University. Corien is the Chair of the Kootenay Rockies Regional Economic Alliance, the Chair of the East Kootenay Chapter of the CGA Association of BC, and is a participant on the UBCM Advisory Group to the RCMP Contract negotiations.
